Skid
steer loaders are small sized machinery with different arrays of tools
and instruments attached to them and are used widely for various
purposes. Their light weight and small size not only gives them
maneuverability but also allows them to be towed behind a full-size
pickup truck. The wide array of work-tools makes them very flexible. Mechanical Operations
Skid steer loader usually runs on wheels and consists of bucket, joysticks etc. It uses pumps and hydraulic motors to provide power to the wheels. It can be associated with different instruments like breaker, pallet forks, angle broom, sweeper, auger, mower, snow blower, stump grinder, tree spade, trencher, and wheel saw which gives it enough maneuverability to perform different tasks.
Each of the joysticks controls hydraulic valves that regulates the flow of hydraulic fluid to either the hydraulic motors that power the wheels or the hydraulic cylinders. For the skid steer loader, each side of the machine is powered by a hydraulic motor. Each of the two motors connects to a sprocket, and each sprocket is connected by two chains to each wheel. The sprockets and chains distribute the power from a single hydraulic motor to both wheels.
Applications
Skid steer loader owing to their small size and sophisticated engineering serve many purposes like :
- Digging in construction sites.
- Loading trucks.
- Jack hammering cements.
- Light demolitions.
- Construction of roads.
- Transportation of light building materials etc.
